Off Warranty Inspection : Supporting Liberty Power, Morse Wind Farm, Saskatchewan

Project Brief: Off-Warranty Drone Wind Turbine Blade Inspections for Liberty Power – Morse, Saskatchewan

Client: Liberty Power
Location: Morse Wind Generating Site, Saskatchewan
Scope: Off-warranty drone wind turbine blade inspections
Provider: Recon Aerial
Deliverable: 9000 images, and 10 clearly annotated reports showing the classified damage, and damage location on each blade.

Recon Aerial was brought in by Liberty Power to perform a multi-day drone wind turbine blade inspection at the Morse Wind Generating Site. With the turbines hitting their five-year mark, the goal was clear: assess blade integrity post-warranty to catch issues before they became liabilities.

When Liberty needed fast action in early March, we delivered. Within days, our team was identified, a detailed plan created, and a fair, transparent proposal submitted and approved. We set the bar high from the start—clear deliverables, AI-powered analysis, and a focus on precision.

Despite unpredictable early spring weather, we mobilized quickly and worked hand-in-hand with the on-site operations team to get the job done safely and efficiently. Within two weeks, Liberty Power had detailed blade reports in hand, complete with annotated high-res imagery, defect classifications, and severity rankings.

The results spoke volumes. We uncovered a manufacturer’s defect affecting several blades—damage that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Thanks to our detailed inspection reports, Liberty Power was able to file a successful warranty claim, saving them from footing the repair bill. That single discovery saved the client more than ten times the cost of the inspection.

This is the value of partnering with Recon Aerial. We help wind farm operators get ahead of blade damage, avoid costly surprises, and make informed maintenance decisions. Our drone wind turbine blade inspections are fast, accurate, and built to deliver real ROI.

If you’re managing a wind farm and need inspections that deliver deeper insights, reduce costs, and minimize downtime, Recon Aerial is your go-to partner.

Loss Prevention: Supporting Enercon, St Remi, Quebec

Project Brief: Pilot Project – Drone Wind Turbine Blade Inspection Services Competition for Enercon, St. Remi, Quebec

Client: Enercon
Location: St. Remi, Quebec
Scope: Drone wind turbine blade inspections
Provider: Recon Aerial
Deliverables: 12,537 high-resolution images, 317 defect-specific photos, detailed Excel report outlining defect locations and severity per blade
Winner: Recon Aerial

Enercon initiated a competitive pilot project to evaluate the capabilities of three companies offering drone wind turbine blade inspections. The objective was to assess performance without the aid of AI or automation—placing full emphasis on the quality of on-site execution, defect detection, reporting accuracy, and overall value.

Recon Aerial led the charge. Our team inspected 20 turbines, generating over 12,500 images and conducting a rigorous manual review to identify blade defects. The result: 165 confirmed defects across the site, averaging nearly 8 defects per turbine. Approximately 84 percent of those issues fell into three primary categories—allowing Enercon to prioritize corrective action based on real, actionable data.

One critical discovery stood out—a 2100mm trailing edge separation on a single blade. The defect was classified as severe, and the turbine was taken offline immediately to prevent a major failure. This rapid identification and response likely saved Enercon significant repair costs and avoided the risk of extended downtime.

What set Recon Aerial apart was not just technical performance, but how smoothly we integrated with Enercon’s team. Our inspectors worked efficiently with site staff, maintaining safety and compliance while delivering precise, professional results. The process was seamless, the execution flawless.

Recon Aerial outperformed two competitors, including Skyspecs, across every key metric: price, inspection execution, defect detection proficiency, and reporting clarity. In a head-to-head trial, we proved why operators trust us when it counts.

For site managers who demand reliable, high-quality drone wind turbine blade inspection services with measurable results, Recon Aerial delivers. We find the defects others miss, provide clear and actionable reports, and help wind farms stay ahead of costly surprises
